FOOTLIGHTERS THEATER PRESENTS P.T.BARNUM
April 25th - May 17th
April 25th - May 17th
While most Americans
today are familiar with the larger than life "Barnum and Bailey
Circus," many may not know of its roots in the heart and mind of one P.T.
Barnum, a magnificent showman of the mid-1800’s whose success came from
promoting curiosities and attractions with panache and a judicious mix of truth
and creativity. Barnum spent his life
finding more and more, bigger and better persona and acts to share with his
ever growing audiences. He introduced
America to Jumbo the Elephant, Jenny Lind the "Swedish Nightingale",
the famous "little man" General Tom Thumb and many more. Mark Bramble took the remarkable story of
P.T. Barnum's roller coaster life of success and failure and put them to music
by Cy Coleman (lyrics by Michael Stewart) and then liberally mixed in The
Circus in this one-of-a kind production, unlike any musical you may have ever
seen.
BARNUM opens at Footlighters Theater on
Friday, April 25th and runs four weekends through May 17th. While the show is slated to begin at 8pm each
night (2pm on Sundays), Mr. Barnum invites his audiences to arrive 30 minutes
early to enjoy the pre-show circus fun.
