The Cassatt Mansion at the Upper Main Line YMCA becomes four
floors of horror one night each year as part of the Y’s Halloween Weekend
Celebration, which raises funds for financial aid. The UMLY Haunted Mansion has
a fictional back story that includes a long and mysterious history behind the
events that will unfold that night.
Did you know that the Otely family built the mansion on
supposedly haunted grounds in 1885? According to “mysterious history”, the
spirits of witches executed in 1704 on these grounds, connected with the Otley daughter,
Molly. This created witch hysteria in the local area and led to a time of
terror for the Easttown community.
This year’s haunted attraction focuses on the next resident
of the Otley Mansion, Dr. Gustav Von Weren, who took up residence in 1895.
Tours of the Haunted Mansion will reveal the doctor’s bizarre work and
experimentation has created monsters in the old house.
